Blepharoptosis: Pattern and its Surgical Management in a Tertiary Eye Hospital of Eastern Nepal

Introduction: Blepharoptosis or drooping of the eyelid is a common disease entity presenting in oculoplasty department. Depending on its severity it causes visual disturbances as well cosmetic problems. Appropriate management and timely surgical intervention results good outcome. Materials methods: This hospital-based study blepharoptosis patient that presented Oculoplasty department underwent ptosis correction by various methods from July 2016- December 2019. Results: A total 85 cases with 104 eyes surgery. The mean age was 24.5 years. Among them, 31.8% were pediatric 68.2% adults. Astigmatism seen 21.1% followed myopia 10.6% hypermetropia 4.7%. Amblyopia 13% cases. Common procedures performed frontalis sling suspension 64.7%, levator advancement 33%, surgery V-Y plasty 2.3%. Conclusions: Ptosis to be associated refractive errors, strabismus, amblyopia. Proper clinical evaluation essential know etiology, type, ptosis. Timely necessary prevent morbidity enhance
